The Preamble
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
What is The Constitution exactly?
The United States Constitution was written by the founding fathers at the Constitutional Convention in 1787. The Constitution outlines the government, both federal and state, and what the government can and can't do, it recognizes the rights of the people and states. I think that it's main job is to limit the power of the federal and state governments and also the people. If the federal government got too powerful then the states and people would have no say, but if the federal government got to weak then the country might fall apart.
